Yesterday was the 2013 Belmont Stakes--New York's premier horse race, and the third race in the Triple Crown (following the Kentucky Derby and the Maryland Preakness).
So bedecked in our pretty dresses and hats we packed a picnic, got on the train, and trekked out to Queens, to see some horses!
The whole day--made better by the whiskey we snuck in (in true wWw fashion!) was a fantastic success!
Several of us bet--and won!--on horses, and even when we lost we managed to have fun.

What had threatened to be a grey rainy day ended up a splendid sunny day!
And finally, at the end of the night, it was time to put the hats to bed.
